To kick off the 2013-2014 year, the book club’s numbers have risen significantly. Gathering book lovers from nearly all social groups throughout the school, the club meets every Friday in the library during both lunches, engaging in book talks regarding recommended reads, personal student reading, and events the club hosts each year.
Just a few of the things on the club’s agenda for the 2013-2014 year include an annual school lock in restricted to members and alumni, followed by a group field trip to a screening of Catching Fire, a Skype session with established national author Sharon O’Neill, and a project that has yet to be revealed.
With the club having been going on for many years, the environment is revered among members. One of the four presidents Kate O’Donnell had to say: “[Book club is] an excellent place. It’s low stress, it’s full of people and activities I like, and you get books before anyone else.” Another one of the presidents Kiernan Briggs similarly had to say “I like the people, and just being there. I like being with my friends, and talking about the things I like.”
You can catch the book club every Friday during both lunches!
