The Ultimate Fighting Championship has many fighters, but the best by far is Amanda Nunes. When people think about the best fighter, they usually think of the many male fighters like Conor McGregor, Kamaru Usman, or Charles Oliveria. But the stats of Amanda Nunes and the impact she had on the UFC makes her just as good as the male fighters she is often compared to. In her time fighting, she was one of the first, and currently only, women to be a double-weight champion, and she was the first openly gay woman fighter. Nunes, or “The Lioness,” was a two-division world champion and was the first person to successfully defend both the title of featherweight and bantamweight at the same time. Nunes is an incredible fighter and a huge inspiration to me. She’s stood in the octagon many times before and never backed down from a fight. No matter who her competitor was, she never gave up and always fought hard to have the best outcome at the end of the fight. Nunes has 14 first-round finishes out of her 23 total wins. Even though she is retired from the UFC, the impact she’s had on the fighting community will forever make her the greatest athlete of all time.
