Whether you forget them or you remember them explicitly, everybody has dreams. Some dream about fears or about their hopes, and some even dream the same dream repeatedly.
With a reliable memory, Tiger Smith ‘27 has had the same reoccurring dream for years.
“It comes every Christmas. You know the movie “The Grinch?” I’m in his cave,” said Smith. “It’s kind of weird, I kind of just hang out with him.”
Not only does Smith remember this dream, but he believes reoccurring dreams have a deeper meaning. The in-depth symbols circulate throughout Smith’s mind, but he continues to view it as a fear.
“I think it’s weird because I used to be afraid of him and now I just have dreams about him,” Smith said.
Fear reveals lots of things in life and especially in high school, which language arts teacher Gwendolyn Lukas-Doctor knows plenty about. Bright lights, an open stage, and a laughing crowd sum up Lukas-Doctor’s dream of stage fright. Her dream has been happening ever since middle school and represents her fears and stress.
“I fear not being prepared,” Lukas-Doctor said. “I think it’s some subconscious fear of inadequacy or an inconsistency in your life.”
