Can you name a better soccer player than Lionel Messi? And don’t say Ronaldo. Messi currently plays for Inter Miami and the Argentinian national team. He has won multiple awards and has broken many records. He won the FIFA FIFPro World XI fifteen times in his lifetime and was the best men’s player twice. Messi continues to grow his status and demonstrate his status as the GOAT. He has scored 672 goals for Barcelona, more than anyone has scored for a single club, and he has scored a total of 819 goals in his career. This makes him the second player in the world to score over 800 goals. Ever since I was a little girl, my dad would put on a game and explain to me how Messi helped his team. After watching him grow as a player and realizing how amazing he is on the field with his footwork and play production, I grew to love and admire him. He puts in the work and shows an outcome. He’s made waves in teams but continues to stay humble. He proves his worth with every game he plays and continues to do so. It can be argued that Ronaldo is the soccer GOAT, but when looking deeper into stats and accomplishments, he doesn’t come anywhere near Messi.

After leaving her soccer cleats to rest junior year, Abbey Elalouf (12) found herself with a new dream—starting a girls flag football team.
“It was hard. We had a bunch of other girls who were interested in playing, but they told us that it wouldn’t ever happen,” Elalouf said.
However, she wouldn’t accept “no” for an answer. After many meetings and constant rejection, it happened, just in time for her senior season. Her dream had become a reality.
“Once everything got rolling, we were able to pick a coach and get straight into practice, and everything’s been going really well,” she said.
The flag football community is something Elalouf thought she could never find, and now that she has, she’s so glad she has fought for something she really wanted.
“I’m so happy I will finally have the true, fun high school sports experience I always hoped for,” she said.
