Addy Stites and her basketball team had a dream. One that seemed unachievable. That dream was to start a flag football team.

After multiple attempts, numerous emails, and being told it would never happen, a team was finally formed.

“I opened my email one day saying it wasn’t just a club but a real team,” Stites said. “I couldn’t wait to play with all of my friends.” 

After the first summer practice in late July, Stites knew this sport wouldn’t be like the rest. Flag football had something that no other sport did: a fun coach and brand-new connections

“It’s so fun to be on the same team with all of my friends, and it doesn’t feel like practice. It’s just fun,” Stites said.

Stites was thrilled to find something she loved so much that she truly enjoyed participating in.

“It was really cool to see that all our work paid off,” Stites said. “I’m glad we put in all the work, and now we are winning games.”
