I know nothing about the Roman Empire except that guys are supposed to think about it 24/7. If something you think about 24/7 is your Roman Empire, then that makes Kat’s speech from the movie “10 Things I Hate About You” mine. It is easily my favorite movie of all time. It’s not just the fact that I love the actors, it’s the fact that it’s so relatable. This movie is about a guy who is paid to take out another girl (Kat). When Kat finds out the guy she likes is being paid, she gets very upset and writes a speech for her class about it. The speech is the best part of the whole movie. I have it completely memorized. Every. Single. Word. The reason I think about this speech all the time is because I couldn’t do what Kat did. I wish I could stand up in front of a class and express my feelings in such a heartfelt way. My favorite stanza would have to be the last one, which says, “Mostly I hate the way I don’t hate you, not even close, not even a little bit, not even at all.” This line stands out to me the most because no matter how mad or hurt I am by someone, I always forgive, and that’s exactly what Kat does when reading this. I love this movie so much. It’s probably unhealthy at this point.

Abbey Elalouf, Editor In Chief
After leaving her soccer cleats to rest junior year, Abbey Elalouf (12) found herself with a new dream—starting a girls flag football team.
“It was hard. We had a bunch of other girls who were interested in playing, but they told us that it wouldn’t ever happen,” Elalouf said.
However, she wouldn’t accept “no” for an answer. After many meetings and constant rejection, it happened, just in time for her senior season. Her dream had become a reality.
“Once everything got rolling, we were able to pick a coach and get straight into practice, and everything’s been going really well,” she said.
The flag football community is something Elalouf thought she could never find, and now that she has, she’s so glad she has fought for something she really wanted.
“I’m so happy I will finally have the true, fun high school sports experience I always hoped for,” she said.
